3d Butterfly Crafts

Look at our above butterfly craft, we created the body and wings with paper in a way that they pop off from the blue paper background and will give your summer craft a 3D effect.

How to make Summer Butterfly Craft

Below is the complete step-by-step of making beautiful butterfly craft at home.

Step 1

The first step is to draw or print the butterfly template on color paper or construction paper. You can find many butterfly designs online to get the idea. You can draw butterfly paper directly on the color paper or you can also print them out.

To make the activity interesting, have your children color the papers with crayons. You can also use the template as coloring pages for the kids to color and then assemble the butterfly craft.

Step 2

The next step is to cut the four body pieces into circles. Add a thin line of glue at the end of each paper strip. Then fold the strip into a circle just like the above image. And now overlap both ends and glue them together.

Step 3

The next step is to add the glue in the center of the butterfly wings and stick it down at the center of the piece of cardstock paper. You have to leave the outer side of the wings unglued from the cardstock to give it an extra dimension and make it 3D.

Step 4

The next step is to cut the pipe cleaner by 2.5 inches on each side and make your butterfly antennae. Fold the pipe cleaner section in half and then tape it down at the top of the butterfly wings.

Step 5

Next is to bend down and curl both ends of the butterfly antennae just like the above image.

Step 6

The next step is to adding glue at the backside of each of the body pieces and glue them down the center of the butterfly wings to create the butterfly body.

Step 7

Now glue each butterfly wing spot onto the butterfly wings.

Step 8

Now your butterfly model is ready and glues the eyes on the top of the body piece. Draw a beautiful smile on the face of the butterfly.

Step 9

Now add some extra dimension to your craft, bend it and curl the ends of the wings. They should look like pooping off the page slightly. Curling both ends around a pencil might be a helpful way for young children to complete this step.

Now the butterfly is ready and you can hang it on the walls of schools and homes.
