  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 3/4 cup water and take lukewarm water and you can use more or less than this quantity according to your need.
  • a little less than 1 tablespoon of oil.
  • 2 teaspoon cream of tartar and food colors.

It is just a simple measurement of ingredients for making a small amount of play-doh, you can double all of them to make more.

The procedure of making homemade play dough

After getting all the ingredients, now it’s time to make play dough. Here are some simple steps that you can follow to make a play-doh.

Step 1:

Mix flour, salt, cream of tartar, oil, and water in a non-stick pan and make a thick paste that does not add color to it.

Step 2:

Cook the mixture on medium flame. Gradually stir it until it gets thickened like a dough.

Step 3:

When you observe that the dough is leaving the ball of the pan and taking the shape of the ball, it’s time to remove it from the heat.

Step 4:

Leave it in the open air for some time. When it gets cool, knead dough well till it gets smooth. You can add a few drops of food coloring in it if you wish to make different colors play doh then make small balls of the same size and mix just a few drops of food coloring in them.

You will need a few simple things for baking play-doh items. Here is the list of things that you will require to bake air dry play-doh items;

  1. A baking tray/ casserole dish/ microwave heat proof container.
  2. Baking sheet/baking paper/wax paper/cookie sheet
  3. Foiled covered baking sheet
  4. Oven

The process to bake play-doh at home.

After creating something unique and extraordinary, it’s time to bake play-doh. Now let’s learn how to do this?

Step 1:

Put your creation in the open air and let it dry for some time. Keep it till it gets hardened. play dough dries faster so it will not take long to get hard.

Step 2:

Now, Preheat the oven at 200 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.

Step 3:

Lined baking sheet on a baking tray and then place the created hardened play dough carefully on it. then put the tray with the play dough in the preheated oven.

Step 4:

Put the play dough in the oven for 30 minutes.

Play dough in the oven takes time to get hard enough. Keep it in the oven until it gets hardened to the desired consistency. If you observe that it does not get hard enough, place it in the oven for a few more minutes. During the whole process, keep checking the play dough after 10 to 15 minutes, if you do not check it from time to time, it gets burned.

You can easily bake play-doh with this simple process and decorate your beautiful models in your home.

Can You Bake Play Dough without cracking?

Yes, you can harden playdough without cracking, when you put the play dough in the oven, make sure that the created artwork is not thinner than it gets cracked, place thick pieces of play dough in the oven, they will never get cracked.

And bake play dough at low temperature, because high temperature can create cracks in the created artwork.
