Dolphins

Do you know that dolphins are really intelligent mammals and skilled at complex problem solving and even social interactions? They are chatty mammals and love to blow bubbles in the water. If you do too, then you are just like dolphins, comical and witty.

Some of you might have the question in your mind that how are most marine animals, especially dolphins, capable of eating too much food. Well, the answer is that dolphins have two stomachs and can eat a lot each day.

They never chew their food but swallow it the moment it enters their mouth. Dolphins can live up to 50 years and they are one of the friendliest and sweetest animals. They stick to their mom when they are first born and are born with hair.

How to draw a dolphin step by step

This tutorial shows how to draw a dolphin in six easy steps. It gives a nitty-gritty breakdown of the drawing process with clarifications and illustrated examples.

Step 1:

This step is going to be the trickiest, but surely easy for the young artists out there. Start by drawing a rostrum or a U laid on its side and stretch a line from the end of the U shape.

An interesting fact about dolphin is that it sleeps with only half their brain. The other remains alert to look out for predators.

Step 2:

Now it is time to draw the back. Make a line from the upper end of the rostrum and keep it steady and then bring it downwards to form the perfect back. I guarantee you that the steps are going to be easy and all the proper instructions will be provided.

Step 3:

Like our every other tutorial. The steps in this one are going to be super easy as well. I believe that simplicity and descents make things presentable. Now draw the pectoral fin. It should be like a triangle with round edges. Draw it near the end of the rostrum line.

Step 4:

Now draw a line on the other side of the fin and make it exactly like the back to form a tube-like shape of the tail.

I hope you are not facing any difficulties or issues in drawing the dolphin! You can find the template at the end of the tutorial.

Step 5:

Now draw the rest of the two fins, a pectoral and a dorsal one. They both should be round triangles and draw one under the belly on the right side, a little near to the fin you drew in Step four. Draw the second fin on top of the back.

Did you know that dolphins give each other names? How cool is that? They create their whistles which enable them to call the others with names!

Step 6:

Now it’s time to draw the facial features. First, draw the eye area pointing it somewhere between the top and lower part of the head. Make a small circle consisting of an even smaller filled-in circle to indicate the pupil. Make sure that you don’t draw two eyes as we are drawing the side pose of the dolphin.

Coloring

You can add colors to make it more attractive. Only solid colors are recommended but you have the liberty to color your dolphin in any shade.

Later on, when you master this drawing, you can draw it with different poses. Besides, also add a smile to create your very own cute, happy and friendly dolphin. At the end of the smile add a curve pointing outwards to add extra details.

Hooray! You have learned how to draw a dolphin easy!

Have fun as you follow our other ocean drawings which are part of our step-to-step drawing tutorials!
