Turtles

Turtles are one of the oldest animals in the world and have lived for hundreds of years! They are known for being super noisy and friendly; to avoid danger, they even have a second shell! To lay eggs, they even dig spaces on the seafloor consisting of moist sand and are very protective.

Turtles can even hold their breath for five hours underwater and believe that jellyfish are delicious.

Did you know?

Did you know this reality that turtles don’t have ears? However, they are not even deaf! They have bones that can feel vibrations and low sounds on their skin. Turtles are very different from other animals; they excrete through their mouths! Isn’t that surprising, yet outstanding?

They are mostly known for their extremely slow speed and are widely present in fables ad stories, such as the ‘BRAVE TURTLE’ or the ‘RABBIT AND THE TURTLE’. This tutorial will provide all the instructions to learn how to draw a sea turtle. We have also tried to keep the steps super simple which are ideal for kindergarten and pre-school kids and also grown-ups who are future artists.

How To Draw a Turtle Easy?

Step 1:

Start by drawing an oval to make the turtle’s body. You can make it a circle as well, but I think that an oval will look even cooler! Like always, the initial step is easy each time and will also be in the future tutorials so that you do not face any issues while drawing and learning how to construct new things!

Step 2:

Inside the oval shell, also draw another oval of the same shape; it should just be like the one you drew in Step 1, but this oval should be a little smaller. However, you do not need to be precise as no one is perfect and that is why pencils have erasers!

Step 3:

Our turtle is incomplete without the face and the tail. Draw the face as an oval, but a little pointed at the top and the tail should somewhat be like a round triangle. Aren’t the steps easy? I hope they are! In no time, you will be able to learn how to draw a cute turtle!

Step 4:

Now it is time to draw the legs, which are the flippers, draw them as flat ovals, kind of four-sided. Draw a similar one on the other side of the body, near the head. Now close to the tail draw two round triangles on each side like done in the illustration.

Step 5:

It is now time to add details in the shell. Draw rectangles inside the center of the shell and each of them should the same distance from the other. Inside the end of the shell, draw round triangles to give better dimensions to the pattern in the shell. Good job! You are doing well and I am pretty sure your drawing is going to turn out splendid!

Step 6:

Now to add further texture and then you will be done. Draw tiny lines inside the inner oval and also draw the eyes. You can draw the pupil inside the eyes by drawing teeny-weeny circles inside them and shade them in.

Color

Now it is time to venture into the most interesting and creative part of the entire drawing. Let’s color! At this point, you can let your imagination be the guide and color in the way you want to! You can color it green as it is the most widely used color to describe turtles.

Congratulations! You have learned how to draw a turtle! You have now understood that shapes play a very important part in drawing and creating things. You can also draw the turtle with different poses and can draw bubbles to indicate that the turtle is making its journey through the seawater.
