  1. Good day… Thank you for taking the time pointing this out, however: I have been a qualified (Post-graduate) teacher for more than 25 years, working with Pre-School children (and bear in mind that PLAY DOUGH was a DAILY ACTIVITY at AL schools where I used to teach). In all these years only TWO children actually tried eating Play dough AND they immediately spit it out because of the high salt content of HANDMADE PLAY DOUGH. Believe me, I’ve tasted it and it does not at all taste like yummy cookie dough. Kids might be tempted to lick it or taste a wee bite but they soon realize it is pretty much yucky tasting. I am a firm believer though, that Play dough should not contain Essential oils, as that might cause an allergic reaction or not be safe if taken orally by children or comes into contact with their skins. (That is only how I feel about it, though). My own opinion: Handmade Play dough is an excellent medium. Care should be taken that Play dough sets do not contain small parts (such as glass beads etc) as THAT might be a choking hazard… for the rest… Do not deprive children of the wonderful creative opportunity playing with Play dough. It has excellent developmental value.
